For too long, Mt Wellington has not received its fair share of attention and now is in urgent need of proper investment that caters for significant growth, MP for Maungakiekie Denise Lee says.
“Mt Wellington is undergoing great change. Not only is Kāinga Ora working on its large-scale developments in the area, but Kiwi Property has also just announced its plan to build a hotel, apartment building and office block at Sylvia Park Shopping Centre. All while the area lacks quality community and recreational amenities and a coordinated approach to planning.
“Auckland Council have confirmed Mt Wellington is not their priority and any discussion for regeneration will not happen before 2021. This is not good enough. That’s why I’m calling on local and central government agencies to commit to a Mt Wellington Masterplan now.
“65 residents attended my public meeting and passionately discussed the future of Mt Wellington. They shared their thoughts on how we could foster better community outcomes through our local businesses, retailers and residents.
“An online survey has been created for anyone who could not attend the meeting and is live now: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RPK728T. The feedback provided will help push for positive development that creates a place our community is proud to welcome.
